A foundation for your ambitions

Financial knowledge.
Practical business thinking.

Develop your understanding of contemporary accounting and financial management through a combination of theory and practical application. This four-year programme begins with a Foundation Year, building the academic skills and subject confidence that support your progression into degree-level study.

Explore financial reporting, management accounting, audit and assurance, taxation, business law and corporate finance. Consider how organisations manage their financial responsibilities, how accounting informs decisions, and how ethical business practice shapes the workplace.

The course can support learners interested in professional, managerial or entrepreneurial directions. Build transferable skills in analysis, communication, research and problem-solving alongside specialist financial knowledge.

Professional qualification exemptions

The programme offers routes towards exemptions associated with IFA, ACCA and CIMA qualifications. Confirm the current exemptions for your graduation year, completed modules and results directly with the provider and professional body. Exemptions do not automatically confer full professional membership; additional examinations, experience or other requirements may apply.

Learn, practise and develop

Teaching & assessment

Connect financial principles with practical business questions while developing your academic and professional skills. Feedback helps you identify strengths and areas to improve before formal assessments.

Formative assessment

  • Informal tasks help you test your knowledge and understanding.
  • Each module typically includes at least one formative assessment.
  • Feedback from your course team supports preparation for formal assessment.
  • These developmental assessments do not contribute to your final module mark.

Engaging with feedback and preparatory tasks supports your learning and progression.

Summative assessment

  • Written examinations.
  • Reports and essays.
  • Portfolios and presentations.
  • Coursework and research linked to module outcomes.

Summative marks contribute to your final module grade. Methods are reviewed annually, including student and External Examiner feedback. Canterbury Christ Church University appoints the External Examiner to provide independent academic assurance.
